Kathleen Lynch Simpson (b. 1954) served in the United States Army Nurse Corps from 1976 until 2005. Kathleen Lynch Simpson (b.1954) was born at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, but spent the majority of her adolescence in Washington, North Carolina. After graduating from Washington High School in 1971, Simpson was accepted at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she received a scholarship to study nursing. She then worked at Beaufort County Hospital before deciding to join the United States Army Nurse Corps in 1976. Simpson attended basic training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and was then sent to the orthopedics and neurosurgery ward at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for her first assignment.
